Spoiler:
Ex-EastEnders star Steve John Shepherd is rumoured to be the new incarnation of Doctor Who's biggest foe Steve John Shepherd He’s one of the most notorious villains in the galaxy, an evil entity capable of causing infinite cosmic chaos.
No, we’re not talking about the murderous, scheming Michael Moon from EastEnders, but Doctor Who’s diabolical arch-nemesis – the Master.
Although Albert Square’s former bad boy might have more in common with the Time Lord’s seminal foe than you may think, especially if this selfie posted by Steve John Shepherd – the actor who played Moon in the BBC soap – is anything to go by.
Looking light years away from the fastidiously dapper and clean shaven Walford wideboy he portrayed between 2010 and 2013, the 40-year-old has grown himself a sinister beard that’s a dead ringer for the type sported by the Master in his previous classic incarnations throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s.
In addition, the snap appears to show the actor standing by a craggy seaside outcrop that suspiciously resembles the windswept South Wales coastline – also, its upload date of January 19 is around the same time the new series of Who would have been filming in Merthry Mawr, just a short Tardis ride from both Porthcawl and Ogmore-by-Sea.
It’s a coincidence which seems to add credence to the ongoing internet rumours that Shepherd is a shoo-in for the coveted role, whispers which were inadvertently started by Shepherd himself late last year when he appeared on ITV’s Daybreak programme to reveal he was about to start work on a big project in the New Year but “couldn’t go into the details.”
Indeed, some fans have since become so convinced he’d make a brilliant Master they’ve been lobbying the show’s writers with homemade trailers and posters imagining the actor in the part.
And Christian Barry, the owner of the Cardiff’s leading comic book store Comic Guru and self-confessed Doctor Who nut, is among those who think Shepherd would be a perfect choice to succeed the likes of Roger Delgado, Anthony Ainley and, most recently, John Simm as the time-travelling megalomaniac.
“For his first adventure as the 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi will apparently arrive in London during Jack The Ripper’s late 19th century reign of terror, and that’s a very Victorian-looking beard Shepherd’s sporting in that picture,” he said.
“You can just imagine him in a top hat, greatcoat and swinging a cane as he walks through the gas-lit, mist-covered streets.
“Perhaps The Ripper will actually turn out to be the Master – who knows?”
Barry added that the photo of the bearded Shepherd put him in mind of how he delighted in the long-running sci-fi favourite as a boy.
“There’s the same unscrupulous, Machiavellian vibe Ainley had during the Tom Baker days,” he said.
“That was such a golden period for the show and Ainley really played up to the whole panto villain thing.
“He was great fun to watch and if Shepherd can harness that, coupled with the darker, quieter moments which made Simm’s portrayal such a stand-out, then he’ll be brilliant.
“The Master has always been the Moriarty to the Doctor’s Holmes, so we really need someone who can prove a worthy adversary for Capaldi.
“And, from what I’ve seen so far, this could be the guy,” added Barry
Merci Pawm pour cette news, j'ai beaucoup aimé l'épisode qu'il a écrit: Journey to the center of the Tardis.

C'est étrange d'avoir marqué "the moment".

Line Of Duty’s Keeley Hawes will join the cast of Doctor Who, following rave reviews for her outstanding performance as DI Lindsay Denton in the hit BBC drama. Starring opposite the Doctor, Hawes will guest star for one episode in Peter Capaldi’s first ever series as the Time Lord.
Set to transmit in the autumn this year, Hawes will play Ms Delphox, a powerful out-of-this-world character with a dark secret. Travelling across space and time the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman), will come face to face with the mysterious Ms Delphox when they arrive on a strange and puzzling planet.
Written by Steve Thompson (Sherlock) the episode will be directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Line Of Duty, Doctor Who).
Commenting on her role, Keeley Hawes, said: “I am delighted to join Doctor Who and to be working with this incredible team. Ms Delphox is a great character and someone I’ve had a lot of fun playing.”
While lead writer and executive producer, Steven Moffat, added: “Anyone watching Jed Mercurio’s amazing Line Of Duty will know that Keeley Hawes is having one hell of year. And now it’s about to get even better as she achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who: she plays a banker.”
Doctor Who is a BBC Wales production for BBC One. Filming is currently underway for the new series, which will introduce Peter Capaldi as the next Doctor for the first time to millions of viewers.
Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss has teased Peter Capaldi’s incarnation promising a “more dangerous” Doctor with a “crazy” side.
Speaking to Adorocinema, Gatiss said: “I saw a little of Peter Capaldi in action and he is wonderful. I think it will be very exciting for everyone, because it is a more dangerous, more urgent Doctor. It has a side of crazy.”
He added: “I was very saddened by the departure of Matt Smith. He did a great job as David Tennant before him, but Peter has something interesting to bring to the role this time.
“The series has already turned eight, is not new anymore, then it’s time to do something more radical. I think it will be fantastic.”
Doctor Who writer Mark Gatiss has addressed rumours that the Master will return in Series 8. Although he doesn’t rule it out he feels it’s important to bring in new villains for a new Doctor.
Speaking to Adorocinema, Gatiss said: “I think anything is possible, but with this new Doctor, I think it’s important not to get stuck on old preferences.”
He added: “When I was little, Tom Baker took over as Doctor and had a complete change of monsters. The Zygons and the Krynoids are fantastic. It’s always nice to have new things.”

Speaking to Yahoo, McGann said: “I think he’s a brilliant choice. I honestly think, knowing Peter as I do, that he could well turn out to be the best of the lot. I really do.
“He’s got the combination of steel and comedy and intelligence that is the Doctor,” he explained. “He might just turn out to be a genius, a master stroke. Because we know how good he is. One thing that Capaldi does, and I know it might sound daft because there’s lots of clever actors, but not that many who can act highly intelligent – he can.”
He added: “He’s a super brain, Peter… he’s even won an Oscar as a director. He’s a brilliant man who can act brilliantly – he can also be funny, but he can be scary while he’s being funny and that might turn out to be the best combination of Doctor.”
“It’s good that they made that decision at this point in time. To get away from some young, handsome guy – bring a different gravitas to it. I have every hope for him that he’s going to be the best.”
Speaking to IGN about what Peter Capaldi has in store for us: “Scottishness. I think that’s the main thing,” he said.
“I mean watching him, and I just watched episode two actually, you don’t go around thinking this is an older bloke as the Doctor, particularly. But then I don’t know if I ever thought Matt Smith was young? You just think my god, he’s Scottish!”
He adds: “Doomed dialogue doesn’t half sound great in Scottish. You say the world’s about to end in a Scottish accent, and you really believe it!”

Speaking at the recent Brazil Q&A panel Gatiss said: “Every time you go back to Gallifrey, it starts to make the Time Lords a bit too domesticated. I know that’s why Russell T Davies came up with the whole idea of the Doctor being the last one because eventually if you see them so often they become a bit like a bunch of MPs, whereas if you talk about them as this amazing, powerful force, they’re much more exciting.
Elaborating on whether he’d ever like to pen a story featuring the Doctor’s home world: “I don’t know if I would want to do one. I think the way the Time Lords were represented in The End of Time and The Day of the Doctor was very exciting because we’re seeing them in a crisis and they’re trying to come up with different ways of saving themselves. But I suppose if the Doctor ever does find Gallifrey again, then we might find out more. Who knows…”

Mark Gatiss has said he will be contributing not one, but two episodes for Peter Capaldi’s run of Doctor Who.
“I am writing for Peter Capaldi. In fact, two episodes,” he said to Cbnfoz.
Gatiss has written six episodes since Doctor Who came back in 2005. There was The Unquiet Dead, The Idiot’s Lantern, Victory of the Daleks and Night Terrors in the first, second, fifth and sixth series respectively. Most recently he contributed Cold War and The Crimson Horror for Series 7. He also was behind the warmly-received 50th anniversary docudrama An Adventure in Space and Time.
Gatiss is best known for his historical episodes. At the recent Brazil Q&A he hinted that novelist Jane Austen may be the next historical figure to feature: “One of the things which new Doctor Who sort of invented was the idea of a celebrity historical – Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Winston Churchill, Shakespeare. There’s three writers there so I think Jane Austen stands quite a quite a good chance actually…
He adds: “I’m not quite sure what the adventure would be. Maybe an alien posing as Mr Darcy.”

The BBC have announced that Ben Miller is set to guest star opposite Peter Capaldi when the new series of Doctor Who returns this autumn. Commenting on his role, Ben Miller says: “As a committed Whovian I cannot believe my luck in joining the Twelfth Doctor for one of his inaugural adventures. My only worry is that they’ll make me leave the set when I’m not filming.” Miller achieved fame as half of comedy duo Armstrong and Miller before success in dramas, including Primeval and, more recently, as DI Richard Poole, the central character in the first two series of the BBC’s Death In Paradise. Miller’s partner in comedy, Alexander Armstrong, appeared in Doctor Who’s 2011 Christmas Special, playing Reg Arwell, but it’s Miller’s first time on the show and he’ll be starring in an episode written by Mark Gatiss. Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, adds: “Mark Gatiss has written us a storming villain for his new episode, and with Capaldi in the TARDIS, we knew we needed somebody special to send everybody behind the sofa. And quite frankly, it’s about time Ben Miller was in Doctor Who!” Other familiar faces confirmed to join Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman in the new series, which will TX on BBC One later this year, include Tom Riley and Keeley Hawes.
Ah, j'aime bien cet acteur !

“I think Peter’s going to completely revitalise the show -- not that it needed revitalising -- but he’s going to bring something completely different to the Doctor. When you change a lead actor, everything’s going to change, but you can rest assured he’s going to absolutely smash it!”
